We asked , who's been shooting really cool pics of Antwerp's architecture for years now, to make a series on his favorite Antwerp hoods. First up: De Luchtbal.
Matthijs: "Two things define a neighborhood: the people and the buildings. In ‘Luchtbal' the marriage between these two is intense. A couple thousand people live in a dozen, massive high-rises. Especially the so-called ‘Lange Blokken’ are impressive. The square, concrete arcades and dead-straight lines are perfect subjects if you love minimalistic photography (like me). Add the beautiful people that live here, and you have a lovely spot to wander around with your camera. It might not be a tourist hotspot, but Luchtbal is Antwerp too."
