Antwerp’s patisseries, coffee bars and tea rooms are in the spotlight during the very popular “Pateekes week”. If you love pastries, confectionery, coffee or tea, then this is the ideal tasting route for you. Pateekesweek starts on Friday 3 March and runs until Sunday12 February 2017. This year’s theme is innovation in pastries and cakes.
You will need to buy a pateekes pass to participate in “Pateekes week”. You can buy it from mid-January from all the and the in Grote Markt and in Central Station.
The Pateekes pass costs 10 euros and contains 10 vouchers, which you can exchange in the participating shops. The value of the pastries, cakes, coffee or other sweets you receive is much higher than the price of the Pateekes pass. You can use up to 2 vouchers in any given shop. Normally you will not be required to eat the products in the shop.
You also receive a brochure with information about the participating shops and a ticket (value: 10 euros) to the exhibition “Antwerp chocolate city-factory” on the first floor of Mercado in Groenplaats. In other words, you get twice your money’s worth with your 10 euro Pateekes pass.
