Karen Willems gaat altijd op zoek naar meer. Er zijn op Color In The Zoo nog altijd momenten van introverte rust, melancholie en bedachtzaamheid, verpakt in dromerige golven en repetitieve patronen, maar de toon is lichter dan haar vorige plaat. Haar immer rusteloze instinct bepaalt de koers. Gewapend met een arsenaal instrumenten en field recordings, en gesteund door gelijkgezinden (Nils Gröndahl, Barkin Engin, Hellvete, Stijn Dickel en Maarten Flamand), maakte Willems een album als een spontane én coherente reis. Etnische grooves, filmische excursies en ongehoorde geluiden gaan hand in hand. Color In The Zoo is bruisend, psychedelisch, zoekend en vooral vrij. Vrij om de fantasie te laten gaan. Support act is Annelies Monseré. She has been playing music solo since 2000. Initially the music was piano-based and mostly instrumental. Once she ‘discovered’ her voice, vocals became a main focus. The early songs had very simple structures and melodies and the words were sparse and introvert. Musically, she experimented with different instruments such as cello, guitar, xylophone and melodica. She debuted in 2005 and the last couple of years saw the release of a string of eps, including splits with Richard Youngs and Circle Bros, and the acclaimed ep Nest.
