Precious new life was breathed into an abandoned 24-hectare railway marshalling yard in 2008/9 when the Park Spoor Noord opened. Now a large panoramic green park emphasising greenery, light, space, leisure, culture, sport and events.
It boasts play areas, a spectacular BMX and skate bowl, two cooling water fountains for children to splash in and a shelter with a temporary summer terrace, run by Bar Cargo, which sees the trendy set settling in - in the summer! Antwerpers sun their bodies, play and relax in this gem of a park - Park Spoor Noord, almost unimaginable in a city.

It is not only the buildings that have survived the test of time in Antwerp, the triangular Stadspark is all that remains of Fort Herentals, one of the forts that guarded the city in the 16th century. Not far from th e city centre and the hustle and bustle of the shopping streets the park borders onto the Jewish neighbourhood.
On sunny weekends Antwerpers gather at Nachtegalenpark, enjoying nature at its best.
The Botanical Garden along Leopoldstraat is a unique green haven in the city centre. It is a world in one garden, exceptional trees and shrubs, 2000 herbs, cactuses and foreign plants will inspire the plant f undi.
Rivierenhof is one park that is busy, the 130 hectares of green welcomes those that are active or those who just like to watch those that are active! Walkers, cyclists, joggers, petanque players and fishing fana tics strut their stuff and tennis, basketball and miniature golf players battle it out on the courts.
